There are seven major energy centers in our bodies known as chakras.  The health of an area of the physical body and the condition of its associated chakra are considered interdependant (i.e., when a chakra is clear and balanced the associated area of the body should also be in the optimum state).

1st Chakra (Muladhara Chakra) is located at the base of the spine and is associated with the legs, feet, glutes and adrenal glands. It is represented by the color red and the element earth. The qualities of the root chakra are patience, structure, stability, security, and the ability to manifest your dreams.

2nd Chakra (Svadhistahana Chakra) is located at our sacrum and is connected to the overaries/testes and the other gender specific organs.It is represented by the color orange and the element of water. The qualities of the sacral chakra are well-being, sexuality, sensuality, pleasure, abundance. This chakra helps us to create healthy boundaries to protect your vital life force (prana) and not to link self-worth with what you do of have.

3rd Chakra (Manipura Chakra) is related to your stomach, abdomen, digestive system, pancreas and the middle spine area behind your solar plexus. It is responsible for the structure of your metabolic system. It's represented by the color yellow and the element of fire. This chakra is where you build strength, personal power, self-esteem, confidence, and dedication.

4th Chakra (Anahata Chakra) is related to the physical heart, lungs, chest, arms as well as the respiratory and circulatory systems. It is represented by the color green and ruled by the element air and therefore the breath. It is represented by the qualities of peace, love, unity, balance and joy. All aspects of the heart speak of love of life and the sacredness of all things. The heart chakra helps us to love ourselves so that our love for others is more effective.

5th Chakra (Vishuddha Chakra) is located at the throat center and is related to the thyroid and parathyroid glands. It is represented by the color turquoise and the element of eather. The throat chakra qualities include will, communication, creativity, truthfulness, integrity. This chakra aids in harnessing your will, expressing your highest truth, and living creatively.

6th Chakra (Ajna Chakra) is located between the eyebrows at the third eye center and is connected to the pituitary gland. The color associated with this chakra is indigo. The qualities include mindful knowing, intuition, wisdom, discernment, imagination, and knowledge. It is here where you focus your intelligence, distill wisdom fro your life experiences, both good and difficult, and where you choose life, health, joy and fulfillment in every aspect of your life.

7th Chakra (Sahasrara Chakra) is located at the top of the skull and is connected to the pineal gland. The colors related to the crown chakra are violet and white. This chakra contains the qualities of bliss, grace, beauty, serenity, and oneness with all that is. This chakra helps you to find a selfless realization of your indelible connection with the greater whole of life.
